Workers' Compensation

The Workers Compensation Act of Colorado exists to ensure the quick and efficient delivery of disability and medical benefits to injured workers at a reasonable cost to employers. Workers compensation insurance covers work-related injuries and disease. Benefits include medical, wage loss, and death benefits.

When workers are injured on the job, it must be reported to the supervisor and to Human Resources within four working days of the occurrence. The employee must complete a First Report of Injury form at the Human Resources office. If the injury is life or limb threatening, the employee should seek immediate medical attention at the nearest emergency room. Otherwise a Human Resources representative will schedule an appointment for the employee with UNC's designated medical provider.

To complete a First Report of Injury, contact Karen Griffin, Sue Stone, or Cheryle Enriques as soon as possible after the incident.

SES 490 - Exercise Assessment and Program

The School of Sport and Exercise Science (SES) has a long and distinguished history of preparing individuals to assume leadership roles in sport and physical activity settings. The Exercise Science program is designed to provide students quality academic and professional preparation in the scientific study of human movement. The program offers a sound theoretical foundation and practical applications.

Employee volunteers are needed each semester this class is held to work with student “personal trainers” so that the students may gain experience and real life application of principles. In return for their participation, employees receive free guidance on health, diet, and exercise needs.  Employees meet with their trainers twice per week for approximately 1 hour per meeting for the entire semester.  The student will assess the employee’s current health and any associated risks, develop a training exercise plan based on the employee’s goals, and work with the employee to develop a healthier life-style.

This is a great opportunity for employees to improve their health and physical conditioning while helping a student prepare for the future.  For more information, contact Ann Bentz, Assistant Professor of Sport and Exercise Science at 970-351-1813.
